Week 6 – Info Design Review

Example 1 – Sex Heroes
I thoroughly enjoyed this info graphic. The colors are great and the overall layout is nice and neat. Well organized information, and the heart around the entire composition really brings everything together. The vector artwork really helps bring the information to life.

Example 2 – Like Your Date To Be Dirty?
This info graphic really hit the money spot. The colors blend well together. The vector art definately sells the piece. The information is definitely related to the entire design, and there is a great amount of information to work with too.  It gives me great ideas to add into my own graphic creations.

Example 3 - Valentine’s Day
This info graphic is very boring in my opinion. I really thought they should of provided more information with a smaller nation graphic. The colors are okay, but I don’t enjoy the bar graph representation in the least bit. A lot more design and information could of really made this piece a winner in my book.

Week 5 – Info Design Review

example 1 – Slicing Up The Economic Stimulus Bill Status
This info design graphic shows how you can make a boring graph still look sexy, while getting the information across. I think it gets the information across on how it’s relevant to the topic. The colors are great and everything looks clean as it should.

example 2 – Growing The Green Job Boom
This info graphic really caught my eye. It puts a twist on traditional graphs, by making it a plant with leaves as the units of measurement and then splicing it into further categories with complimentary colors. I thoroughly enjoyed understand the info graphic but I think there is TOO much information, then again you might not be able to understand it.

example 3 – You’ll Never See A Village
This is a perfect example of vector imagery to get their point across. I really wish I could spend the time creating a full vector illustration. Im not entirely sure on what message they’re trying to convey but at least it looks great!

Week 4 – Info Design Review

Example 1 – Golden Oppurtunity
I think this is a great example of what not to do. There is too much information. I know there trying to get a point across with a heavy amount of information but people don’t enjoy words. They want great graphics, and simple concepts that display statistics. The colors are awful and the layout doesn’t help matters at all. There is no hierarchy or spacing between like or different items.

Example 2 – Malaria: Africa vs. The World
I love this info graphic. It depicts the information in the correct format that it should. Great colors and graphics. The layout is spot on and couldnt be better. There is enough wordage and doesn’t scream boring when you first look at it.

Example 3 – The TRUE size of Africa
This info graphic is great. I don’t think I would of personally listed all the top 100 countries, it’s an eye sore. The graphics are perfect and represent the information as if it was mirrored. when the information is presented this way you have a great understanding of how big Africa really is! A wide variety of colors help you understand the different countries area.

Week 3 – Info Design Review

example 1 – The Anatomy of Frozen Desserts

I especially enjoy this info graphic because of the concept. It’s very artistically drawn, not too cartoonish yet not too realistic. Frozen Desserts is a concept everyone can understand. Immediately users can relate and WANT to read more about Desserts. I enjoy the colors, and the typography stands out in a classy bu fun way as well.

example 2 – Who Is Coming To America

This info graphic is explaining the immigration demographics in America. The graph is easily understood and is visually appealing with a great contrast in colors. The flags help visually represent each country. The statistics/text in the info graphic is easily read and understood.

example 3 – Left or Right

There’s a lot going on in this info graphic. In my opinion the graphic is too cluttered with information, but then again, this type of topic really does deserve correct representation on all the major differences between the two sides of politics. The colors are chosen wisely and no use of any other color than blue, red and black are used. The layout is great and gives a line for the eye to follow.

Week 2 – Info Design Review

 example 1 – Audio/Video

The audio/video info design is well executed. It puts a fun spin on the bar graph system and incorporates great icons to explain which bar represents which category. The color scheme is wonderful and the hues pop out at you and grasp your attention.

example 2 – Latinos En Los Estados Unidos

This information graphic displays a wide variety of imagery to support the large graphic. It’s about the Latin populations immigration into the united states, and where they landed. The vector based graphic is well presented and the colors used are very opposite of each other to help the viewer understand.

example 3 – gender expectations

I like the gender expectations information graphic. It settles a very common argument about comparing males and females athletic performance average. Not only is this info graphic easy to understand but the use of spot on colors and simplicity convey the information immediately. Although, I would of enjoyed more comparisons on a larger scale, but that might of ruined the mood of the graphic.

Week 1 – Info Design Review

example 1 – Tiny Science

This example demonstrates a very clean and informative design without being too boring. The colors blend well together and draw you towards the information, while graphical elements and a grid base layout brings everything together. Multiple variations in graphs gives the audience different views on different matters within the information. The slim sans-serif futuristic font compliments the clean edged design.

example 2 – Top CEO competitions

This example is meshed well together with graphical elements representing quanitiy through size, shape, and colors. The information is clearly displayed and has graphics in the background to give it some dimension. I feel that the heading outlaw serif text is clashing with the sans-serif body text and has no relevance to the design. I feel that this design lacks an intro paragraph explaining what exactly is being shown.

example 3 – Chile Earthquake Map

This design is one of my favorites. It brings vector designs and a raster image together, almost a map view withing a satelite view feeling. The color scheme gives the information the ability to POP without having to even engage yourself into the material. Multiple graphical illustrations give great incite to other pieces of information that correlates with the event. This gives the audience a complete understanding of what they are looking at.
